Buttercream Dream Icing

This icing recipe may seem a bit odd, but I can assure it works!Using white shortening (Trex) instead of butter or marge makes for a very white cream icing which colours much better for decorating and actually doesn’t taste bad at all!

 


2oz salted butter - room temperature. Use pale coloured butters
2ox unsalted butter - room temperature
3 ½ oz Trex

½ tablespoon Clear Vanilla extract
450g Icing Sugar 
2 - 3 Tablespoons very cold milk

· Cream the butter and shortening in the bowl of an electric or stand mixer

· Add the clear vanilla extract and combine well.

· Begin adding in the sugar and mixing thoroughly after each addition.

· After all of sugar has been added and mixed thoroughly, begin adding the very cold milk... one tablespoon at a time, combining very well after each addition (mixer on medium-high to high speed) until you reach the desired consistency.
